(WNY News Now) – A 62-year-old Dunkirk resident faces criminal charges after allegedly damaging property and resisting police during a disturbance on Deer Street.

DUNKIRK, NY – On Friday, May 30, 2025, at approximately 6:41 p.m., Dunkirk Police responded to a report of a disorderly individual in the 500 block of Deer Street.

Upon arrival, officers encountered Thomas W. Watson, 62, of Dunkirk. According to the Dunkirk Police Department, Watson began damaging items belonging to a neighbor in the presence of officers.

As officers attempted to take him into custody, Watson allegedly resisted arrest. He was subsequently transported to Dunkirk Police Headquarters, where he was charged with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree (PL 145.00(1)) and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree (PL 195.05).

Watson was held for arraignment and later released on his own recognizance. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
