(WNY News Now) – On June 4, 2025, Dunkirk police arrested Dakota O. Cordell, 28, of Fredonia, following a narcotics seizure at East 5th Street and Park Avenue.
At approximately 4:29 PM, officers spotted Cordell in a vehicle while responding to a confirmed warrant from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. During the encounter, officers observed suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia in plain view. Cordell attempted to discard the suspected narcotics but was restrained by police.
A search of the vehicle and Cordell revealed approximately 7.8 grams of suspected fentanyl, 1.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine, an unidentified powder, packaging materials, scales, and a significant amount of cash. The items seized were consistent with street-level drug sales.
Cordell was taken to Dunkirk Police Department headquarters, where he was arraigned on multiple charges including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th degrees, Intent to Sell, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia. After arraignment in Dunkirk City Court, Cordell was released on his own recognizance and transferred to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office to address outstanding warrants.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
