(WNY News Now) – DUNKIRK, N.Y. — A Fredonia woman was charged following a narcotics investigation on Central Avenue in Dunkirk Thursday evening, June 12, 2025.

According to the Dunkirk Police Department, officers responded around 8:22 p.m. to a report of a suspicious person inside a vehicle parked at a local business. Upon arrival, police made contact with 41-year-old Kia L. Briggs of Fredonia.

While speaking with Briggs, officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle. A further search led to the discovery of multiple substances, including approximately 2.6 grams of suspected fentanyl, 0.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, several controlled substance pills, and an unidentified powder.

Briggs was taken into custody and transported to Dunkirk Police Headquarters. She was charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and one count of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree.

Briggs was processed and later released on appearance tickets. She is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
