(WNY News Now) – John P. Martha, 59, of Butler, Pennsylvania, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and speeding following a traffic stop on Bemus Point Ellery Road on June 21.

On June 21, 2025, at approximately 11:43 p.m., the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Bemus Point Ellery Road in the Village of Bemus Point. The driver, identified as 59-year-old John P. Martha from Butler, PA, was found to be operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Following the investigation, Martha was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), DWI per se, and speeding in a designated zone. He was taken into custody without incident.

Martha is scheduled to appear in Ellery Town Court at a later date to answer the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
