(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY — A 34-year-old Jamestown man was taken into custody early Wednesday morning following a foot chase and brief struggle with police near a local convenience store.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the Third Platoon encountered Juan A. Tufino Jr. at approximately 1:41 a.m. on June 25, 2025, outside the 7-Eleven at 518 North Main Street. Officers recognized Tufino as the subject of an active warrant for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, issued by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

When officers attempted to detain him, Tufino reportedly ignored verbal commands and fled the scene on foot. He was located a short distance away and, after a brief physical struggle, was taken into custody.

Tufino was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. In addition to the outstanding warrant, he now faces an additional charge of Resisting Arrest. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
