Matthew Rudy sentenced for role in concealing Pennsylvania homicide

(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. – A Jamestown man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for assisting in the burial of a murder victim on his property in Pennsylvania.

Matthew Rudy, 43, was sentenced to 60 months in prison by Senior U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny after being convicted of accessory after the fact, according to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo.

Prosecutors stated that on May 27, 2014, co-defendant Anthony Neubauer lured Joseph Anthony from Jamestown to Pennsylvania under the false promise of cocaine. The property where they traveled was owned by Rudy. Once there, Neubauer and Rudy told Anthony they had no drugs and proceeded to shoot and kill him, later burying his body on Rudy’s land. Investigators believe the killing was motivated by suspicions that Anthony was cooperating with authorities.

Neubauer has already been convicted in connection with the case and is awaiting sentencing.

The case was investigated by the Jamestown Police Department, the FBI, and the Warren County, PA, District Attorney’s Office.
