Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responds to Bush Road accident; driver arrested for DWI offenses
(WNY News Now) – FRENCH CREEK, N.Y. – A Clymer man is facing multiple charges following a single-vehicle crash Friday evening in the Town of French Creek.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to Bush Road at approximately 5:14 p.m. on June 27, 2025, for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle involved and identified the driver and sole occupant as 60-year-old Lawrence R. Dunnewold of Clymer, New York.
Following an on-scene investigation, authorities determined that Dunnewold had moved from his lane unsafely and was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), DWI per se, and Moving From Lane Unsafely.
Dunnewold was released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of French Creek Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
