Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies respond to single-vehicle accident, driver faces multiple charges.
(WNY News Now) – RIPLEY, N.Y. — A Westfield man was arrested in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 28, after a single-vehicle crash on Park Avenue in the Town of Ripley led to a DWI investigation.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the crash at approximately 1:37 a.m. and identified the driver as 41-year-old Joseph A. Johnson. During the investigation, deputies determined that Johnson was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Johnson was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated DWI (with a blood alcohol content of .18% or higher), Consumption of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle, and Moving from Lane Unsafely.
He is scheduled to appear in Ripley Town Court to answer the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
