(WNY News Now) – Melissa E. Sweeney, 52, of Celoron was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property following a reported stolen cell phone incident on June 26, 2025.
On June 26, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Town of Ellicott Police responded to a complaint involving a stolen cell phone. During the investigation, officers found Melissa E. Sweeney, 52, of Celoron, in possession of the reported stolen device.
Sweeney was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree. She was issued an Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to address the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
