Jamestown police arrest driver with suspended license and outstanding warrants during Washington Street traffic stop.
(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A 29-year-old Jamestown resident was taken into custody Saturday afternoon following a traffic stop on Washington Street that led to the discovery of multiple active warrants and traffic-related offenses.
At approximately 3:39 p.m. on July 5, 2025, officers with the Jamestown Police Department initiated a vehicle stop after identifying a car with a suspended registration. The driver, identified as Anthony L. Slaughter Jr., was found to be operating the vehicle despite having a suspended license.
Further investigation revealed that Slaughter had an active bench warrant out of the City of Jamestown as well as a warrant from Warren County, Pennsylvania. He was immediately taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown city jail without incident.
Slaughter faces several charges, including Fugitive from Justice, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Second Degree, Operating While Registration Suspended/Revoked, and the outstanding bench warrants. He is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
