(WNY News Now) – Branden J. Johnson, 29, of Jamestown, was arrested early Sunday morning on Bemus Ellery Road in the Village of Bemus Point for aggravated driving while intoxicated and speeding violations.

At approximately 1:41 a.m. on July 6, 2025, deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on Bemus Ellery Road (Route 430) in the Village of Bemus Point. The driver, identified as 29-year-old Branden J. Johnson of Jamestown, was suspected of impaired driving.

Upon further investigation, law enforcement determined that Johnson was operating his vehicle under the influence with a blood alcohol content exceeding the legal limit by a significant margin. Johnson was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Aggravated DWI (with a BAC of .18 or higher), and speeding within a posted zone.

Johnson was taken into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Town of Ellery Court to respond to the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
