(WNY News Now) – A Panama resident faces multiple charges after deputies say he was caught driving while intoxicated and without a valid license.
PANAMA, N.Y. — A 40-year-old man from Panama was arrested in the early morning hours of July 3 after a traffic stop in the Village of Panama led to an impaired driving investigation.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an incident around 12:14 a.m. and determined that Cody J. Erickson was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
Following the investigation, Erickson was taken into custody and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), DWI per se (having a blood alcohol content over the legal limit), and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree—a felony offense under New York State law.
Erickson is scheduled to appear in Harmony Town Court at a later date to answer to the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
