(WNY News Now) – Deputies responded to a weapons complaint in Chautauqua, leading to a citation for unlawful firearm discharge.

Chautauqua, NY – On Saturday, July 12, 2025, at approximately 11:34 a.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a person with a weapon on Centralia-Hartfield Road in the Town of Chautauqua.

Following an on-scene investigation, deputies determined that 33-year-old Gabriel J. Seyler of Chautauqua had discharged a firearm within 500 feet of a residence, a violation of local and state laws designed to protect public safety.

Seyler was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charge in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
