Police say suspect intentionally struck vehicle mirror during evening incident on East 3rd Street

(WNY News Now) – DUNKIRK, NY – A Dunkirk man was charged with criminal mischief following an investigation into a damaged vehicle reported on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

According to the Dunkirk Police Department, officers responded around 7:19 p.m. to the area of East 3rd Street and Main Street after receiving a report of intentional damage to a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers determined that 56-year-old Jerry J. Small had intentionally struck and damaged the vehicle’s side mirror.

Police located Small following the incident. He was charged with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree under New York State Penal Law §145.00(1), a class A misdemeanor.

In accordance with New York’s bail reform laws, Small was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
