Deputies allege suspect threatened wife with chainsaw during incident in Town of Persia
(WNY News Now) – PERSIA, NY — A 63-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges following a domestic dispute Saturday night in the Town of Persia involving threats with a chainsaw, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a residence at a Broadway Road residence on July 12, 2025, around 8:30 p.m., after receiving a report of a disturbance involving a man allegedly breaking and throwing items inside the home.
Following an on-scene investigation, James A. O’Sullivan of Persia was taken into custody and charged with Menacing in the Second Degree, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, and Resisting Arrest. Authorities say O’Sullivan allegedly threatened to kill his wife with a chainsaw during the incident.
He was held pending arraignment in Persia Town Court. A stay-away order of protection was issued against O’Sullivan as a result of the incident. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
