(WNY News Now) – A 41-year-old man from Bemus Point faces multiple felony charges after police found his vehicle obstructing traffic on Route 5 in Westfield.

WESTFIELD, NY – A Bemus Point man was arrested on Saturday, July 12, 2025, after officers from the Westfield Police Department responded to a vehicle stopped in the middle of Route 5 near North Portage Street at approximately 9:43 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle standing on the highway and obstructing traffic. During their investigation, they determined the driver, identified as 41-year-old Eric A. Decker, was operating the vehicle in an intoxicated state.

Decker was taken into custody and charged with felony Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without an Ignition Interlock Device, Standing or Parking on the Pavement, DWI Per Se, and Consumption of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle.

Decker was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Westfield Court at a later date to answer the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
