(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man was charged with drug possession after officers discovered him lying on the ground during a routine patrol on the city’s south side.
JAMESTOWN, NY – On Saturday, July 26, 2025, at approximately 12:20 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 1st Platoon conducted a narcotics investigation after encountering a man lying on the ground between residences on the city’s south side.
The individual was identified as 32-year-old Adam L. Somnitz, a resident of Jamestown. During the investigation, officers found Somnitz in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Somnitz was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a class A misdemeanor under New York State law.
He was released at the scene with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
