Police say Jacqueline R. Cruz assaulted a woman pushing a stroller and took her phone during altercation
(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Jamestown woman is facing multiple charges following a fight that occurred late Tuesday morning in the area of East 4th Street and Pine Street.
Jamestown, N.Y. – According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers responded to reports of a fight around 11:35 a.m. on July 29, 2025. Upon arrival, officers determined that 30-year-old Jacqueline R. Cruz had confronted another woman inside a nearby business. Cruz allegedly handed her child to a bystander before exiting the building to engage in a physical altercation with the victim, who was pushing a baby in a stroller.
During the fight, police say the stroller rolled toward the street, prompting charges related to child endangerment. Following the altercation, Cruz was found in possession of the victim’s cell phone, which was reported stolen. Officers recovered the phone during a search incident to her arrest.
Cruz was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. She is facing charges of Assault in the Third Degree, Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
