Police say suspect fled property damage accident before being stopped by witness
(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Falconer man is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of a property damage accident while driving under the influence late Friday night.
According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the 3rd platoon responded to a reported hit-and-run near the intersection of Falconer Street and Woodlawn Avenue at approximately 11:53 p.m. on August 2. Witnesses at the scene reported that the vehicle involved had left the area but was subsequently stopped by a civilian before police arrived.
Officers identified the driver as 25-year-old Zachary G. Boardman, a resident of Falconer. After an investigation, authorities determined that Boardman had been operating the vehicle while intoxicated. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.
Boardman was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), DWI Per Se, and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident. He was later released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
