Jamestown police say a bar fight led to the arrest of three individuals, including one charged with assaulting an officer.
(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – Three individuals are facing multiple charges following an early morning altercation outside The Wine Cellar on North Main Street that resulted in one police officer being injured, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
Officers from JPD’s 3rd Platoon responded to reports of a fight around 1:30 a.m. on August 3. Upon arrival at 309 N. Main Street, officers encountered several individuals actively fighting outside the bar.
As police worked to separate those involved and disperse a growing crowd, 28-year-old Cesar L. Rodriguez of Dunkirk allegedly repeatedly shoved an officer despite being ordered to back away. After a brief struggle, Rodriguez was taken into custody. Officers then deployed OC spray to control the crowd.
During the incident, 22-year-old Diondra F. Drayton of Jamestown allegedly aimed her own pepper spray at officers and threatened to use it. She was subsequently arrested.
Meanwhile, 32-year-old Lisandra Rodriguez of Dunkirk reportedly punched an officer in the eye while police were attempting to break up additional fighting. The officer sustained physical injuries. Authorities say other individuals tried to pull officers away during the struggle, but Lisandra was ultimately taken into custody.
All three suspects were transported to Jamestown City Jail. Cesar Rodriguez was charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. Diondra Drayton was charged with Menacing in the 2nd Degree, while Lisandra Rodriguez faces a felony count of Assault in the 2nd Degree (on a police officer).
Under New York State bail reform laws, Cesar Rodriguez and Diondra Drayton were released on appearance tickets. Lisandra Rodriguez remains in custody pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The Jamestown Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Ellicott Police Department, New York State Police, and Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
