Town of Ellicott police allege trio damaged park property on August 12

(WNY News Now) – CELORON, N.Y. — Three 18-year-old men are facing charges after Town of Ellicott police responded to a criminal mischief complaint at Celoron Park on the afternoon of August 12, 2025.

According to police, officers were dispatched to Celoron Park, located at 1 Dunham Avenue, at approximately 3:47 p.m. for a report of property damage. Following an investigation, Gerald A. Leighton IV of Busti, Kenyan B. McBride of Celoron, and Logan Swanson of Celoron were each charged with Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree.

Authorities allege the three damaged park property during the incident. Specific details of the damage were not disclosed in the police statement.

All three defendants were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer to the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree is a Class E felony in New York, generally involving damage to another person’s property exceeding $250.
