(WNY News Now) – HINSDALE, N.Y. — A traffic stop on Route 16 in the Town of Hinsdale led to the arrest of a Franklinville man on drug and traffic charges, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.

On August 7, 2025, at approximately 11:20 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on 50-year-old Benjamin J. Minervino for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. During the stop, Minervino reportedly consented to a search of his vehicle.

Deputies say the search uncovered a quantity of suspected fentanyl, packaging materials, and a black magnetic lockbox. Minervino was transported to the Sheriff’s Office Olean Substation for processing.

He was released on an appearance ticket and multiple traffic citations. Charges include:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree
  • Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree
  • Move from Lane Unsafely
  • Failure to Keep Right

Minervino is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hinsdale Court at a later date for further proceedings. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
