(WNY News Now) – COLD SPRING, N.Y. — A 25-year-old Cold Spring resident was charged with third-degree assault following a physical altercation at a local residence.

On August 9, 2025, at approximately 10:41 p.m., Cattaraugus County deputies responded to a dispute at a home on Railroad Avenue in the Town of Cold Spring. Authorities took Wayne T. Mooney III into custody after the incident escalated into a physical confrontation.

Mooney was transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office for processing and released with an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Cold Spring Town Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
