Deputies Remand Fugitive to Cattaraugus County Jail Pending Extradition

(WNY News Now) – OLEAN, N.Y. — The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies arrested 37-year-old Justin T. Hellmer of Olean on Friday, September 5, 2025, following the discovery of an active warrant issued by Pennsylvania State Police.

According to Sheriff Eric A. Butler, deputies located Hellmer around 11:30 a.m. in the 100 block of North 11th Street in Olean. A routine NCIC check confirmed that Hellmer was wanted on an out-of-state warrant.

He was taken into custody without incident and arraigned before Judge N. Dicerbo as a fugitive from justice. Following arraignment, Hellmer was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail, where he is being held pending extradition proceedings to Pennsylvania. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
