Authorities Respond to Incident on Old Chautauqua Road; One Person Injured

(WNY News Now) – GERRY, N.Y. — The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the New York State Police, responded to a gunshot complaint on Old Chautauqua Road in the Town of Gerry on Monday morning, September 22, 2025.

Deputies reported that around 10:00 a.m., officers arrived at a residence where a victim had sustained non-life-threatening injuries from a gunshot. The individual was transported to UPMC Chautauqua for medical treatment.

Following an investigation, deputies determined that Toni L. Long, 35, of Sinclairville, allegedly discharged a firearm recklessly inside the residence. Authorities located Long shortly after the incident, and she was taken into custody without further incident.

Long was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail and is facing charges of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, and Menacing in the Second Degree. She is scheduled to appear through the Centralized Arraignment Program. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
