(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A Jamestown woman was taken into custody early Thursday morning following a street check that led to a drug possession charge.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the 3rd Platoon were patrolling near 518 N. Main Street, outside a 7-Eleven, at approximately 1:44 a.m. on September 25. Officers observed 35-year-old Crystal R. Borst, who was wanted on an active bench warrant issued by Jamestown City Court, leaving the store.

Borst was placed under arrest and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. During the arrest, police reported finding a quantity of fentanyl in her possession. She has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.

Borst is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
