Deputies respond to early morning incident on Route 426; two individuals face charges
(WNY News Now) – FRENCH CREEK, N.Y. — The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office arrested two individuals following an early morning altercation on Route 426 in the Town of French Creek.
Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 12:56 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025. Following an investigation, authorities determined that 35-year-old Brett M. Rater and 35-year-old Breeanna L. Byers, both residents of French Creek, were involved in the incident.
Both Rater and Byers were charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. They were taken into custody and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, where they were held for arraignment in the centralized arraignment program at the Town of Mina Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
