(WNY News Now) – TOWN OF PORTER, N.Y. — A boat was destroyed by fire Monday afternoon after coming into contact with power lines while being backed into a driveway on Balmer Road.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to 902 Balmer Road at approximately 1:12 p.m. on October 6, 2025, following reports of a boat fire. When patrol units arrived, they found a 2006 Sea Ray boat fully engulfed in flames.
The Youngstown Fire Company quickly responded and extinguished the fire. Investigators determined that the blaze started when the boat, while being backed into the driveway on its trailer, made contact with overhead power lines.
The boat was declared a total loss, though officials reported no damage to the pickup truck towing it. No injuries were reported in the incident.
