(WNY News Now) – Officials say discarded cooking materials from an outdoor smoker sparked a shed fire late Monday night in the Town of Ripley.
RIPLEY, N.Y. – On Monday, October 6, 2025, at approximately 11:35 p.m., the Ripley Fire Department responded to a reported shed fire on East Slide Hill Road in the Town of Ripley.
Fire crews quickly arrived on scene and extinguished the blaze. Following the initial response, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
After a thorough investigation, officials concluded that the fire was caused by discarded cooking materials from an outdoor smoker. Investigators determined the incident to be accidental in nature.
No injuries were reported from the incident. Residents are reminded to properly dispose of hot coals, ashes, and other cooking materials to prevent accidental fires.
