(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTT, N.Y. — A West Ellicott man was arrested following an incident involving a weapon on October 24, 2025, according to the Town of Ellicott Police Department.

Police charged Dustin D. Pickett, 37, with Menacing in the Second Degree, Attempted Assault in the Second Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree.

Officers responded to a report of a person with a weapon, where it is alleged that Pickett threatened and attempted to stab the victim multiple times with a large knife. Pickett was taken into custody at the scene without further incident.

He was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer to the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
