(WNY News Now) – MINA, N.Y. — A Pennsylvania man was arrested early Saturday morning following a property damage crash and brief search in the Town of Mina.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 3:51 a.m. on November 1 to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Route 430. When officers arrived, they found that the driver had fled the scene.
Sheriff K9 Seven was deployed and successfully located the suspect a short time later. Deputies identified the driver as 23-year-old Austin C. Snyder of Oil City, Pennsylvania.
An investigation determined that Snyder had been operating the vehicle while intoxicated. He was taken into custody and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), DWI per se, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent, and Moved From Lane Unsafely.
Snyder was later released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges in Mina Town Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
