(WNY News Now) – A structure fire in the Town of Arkwright early Sunday morning has been ruled accidental after investigators determined it was caused by a propane heater placed too close to combustible materials.

ARKWRIGHT, N.Y. — On Sunday, November 2, 2025, at approximately 5:45 a.m., the Forestville Fire Department, along with several mutual aid departments, responded to a reported structure fire at 8996 Park Road in the Town of Arkwright.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the home engulfed in flames and worked quickly to bring the blaze under control. Once the fire was extinguished, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was called to the scene to determine the fire’s origin and cause.

According to investigators, the fire began in the living room area of the residence. The investigation revealed that a propane heater had been operating too close to combustible materials, which ultimately ignited and caused the fire.

Officials have ruled the fire accidental in nature. No injuries were reported at the scene.

Fire departments involved in the response included Forestville Fire Department and multiple mutual aid partners from surrounding communities.
