BROCTON, N.Y. – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of 27-year-old Dylan F. Gross following an investigation into suspicious activity at the Chautauqua County Jail.
In October 2025, the jail’s administration requested assistance from the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division after concerns were raised about potential misconduct by an employee. The investigation identified Gross, a corrections officer, as the subject of the inquiry.
According to authorities, Gross allegedly sold a controlled substance to an incarcerated individual while on duty. As a result of the investigation, he was charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree, Promoting Prison Contraband in the 2nd Degree, and Official Misconduct.
Gross voluntarily turned himself in to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office on December 19, 2025, where he was processed and arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Program at the county jail.
He is scheduled to appear in Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date to answer the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
