(WNY News Now) – Town of Ellicott police took a Jamestown man into custody after confirming an active warrant during a street check Saturday night.

The Town of Ellicott Police Department reported that Alberto Narvaez Aponte Jr., 41, of Jamestown, was arrested on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., in connection with an outstanding warrant for petit larceny.

According to police, officers responded to a street check in which the Jamestown Police Department had Aponte stopped on a separate incident. During the encounter, authorities confirmed that Aponte had an active warrant issued by the Town of Ellicott Police Department stemming from an alleged petit larceny that occurred on November 19, 2025.

Aponte was taken into custody and turned over to Town of Ellicott police. He was processed at the Ellicott Police Department and later transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment.

Police said Aponte is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer to the charge.

All charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
