(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTT, N.Y. — A Jamestown woman has been charged with attempted kidnapping and multiple child endangerment offenses following an incident involving an 8-year-old child on February 28, 2026, according to the Town of Ellicott Police Department.

The Town of Ellicott Police Department reported that officers responded to a call regarding a female allegedly attempting to kidnap a child in a residential area.

Police allege that Angelea A. Luszcak, 33, of Jamestown, approached an 8-year-old juvenile and grabbed the child’s coat. Luszcak is accused of dragging the juvenile down an alley and away from the child’s home.

According to authorities, another juvenile who witnessed the incident ran into a nearby house to alert an adult. The child was able to break free, and a parent came outside to assist. Luszcak allegedly fled the scene before officers arrived.

Police said Luszcak was located a short time later and taken into custody without further incident.

Luszcak has been charged with:

  • Attempted Kidnapping in the Second Degree
  • Two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child
  • Harassment in the Second Degree

She was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, where she was held pending arraignment.

Luszcak is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer the charges.

All charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
