(WNY News Now) – PORTLAND, N.Y. — A Westfield man was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after deputies discovered he was allegedly driving with a suspended license during a traffic stop in the Town of Portland.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were patrolling on Webster Road at approximately 2:17 p.m. on March 7, 2026, when they stopped a vehicle for an alleged traffic infraction.
During the investigation, deputies determined that the driver, Andrew C. Harris, 29, of Westfield, was operating the vehicle while his license was suspended.
Harris was arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the First Degree, a felony, along with Unlicensed Operator and Operating an Uninspected Motor Vehicle.
Authorities reported that Harris was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, where he was held pending centralized arraignment in the Town of Portland Court.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said the charges are allegations, and Harris is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
