(WNY News Now) – A 50-year-old woman from Allegany was issued an appearance ticket after deputies say she was caught stealing merchandise from Walmart in the Town of Allegany on March 7.

According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested Leslie Leyva, 50, on a charge of petit larceny following an incident at the Walmart.

Authorities reported that the arrest occurred on March 7, 2026, at approximately 10:43 a.m. after Leyva was allegedly observed stealing merchandise from the store located in the Town of Allegany.

Following the incident, Leyva was transported to the Olean substation, where she was processed by deputies. She was later released with an appearance ticket.

Leyva is scheduled to appear in Allegany Town Court at a later date for arraignment on the charge. The charge remains an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
