(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY — A Niagara Falls man was taken into custody early Thursday after Jamestown police allegedly found him driving while impaired by drugs during a traffic stop on the city’s east side.
According to the Jamestown Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 1:14 a.m. on March 19, 2026. Officers assigned to the Third Platoon initiated a vehicle and traffic stop in the east side area of the city.
Police identified the driver as Dashawn M. Davis, 37, of Niagara Falls. Following an investigation at the scene, officers determined that Davis was operating the vehicle while his ability was impaired by drugs.
Davis was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. He is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
He has been charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (DWAI-Drugs) along with multiple uniform traffic tickets. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
