(WNY News Now) – MAYVILLE, N.Y. — A Mayville resident faces multiple charges after an early morning altercation prompted a response from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

According to deputies, the incident occurred at approximately 3:41 a.m. on March 21 at a residence in Mayville. Authorities were dispatched following a report of a past physical altercation.

Following an investigation, deputies determined that Kevin T. Appelbe, 41, allegedly caused physical injury to another individual during the incident. Investigators further reported that the victim was placed in fear for their life and had their movements restricted during the altercation.

Appelbe was taken into custody and transported to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office for processing. He has been charged with third-degree assault, third-degree menacing, and second-degree unlawful imprisonment.

After processing, Appelbe was transferred to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date to answer the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
