(WNY News Now) – DUNKIRK, NY — A 34-year-old Dunkirk man faces criminal charges after allegedly breaking a woman’s front window while violating an active order of protection.

On March 12, 2026, at approximately 2:53 PM, Dunkirk Police responded to a report of property damage at a city residence. According to police, the victim reported that Jonathan Gonzalez-Colon approached her home and broke the front window. The victim also had an active stay-away order against Gonzalez-Colon.

Gonzalez-Colon was located shortly afterward and taken into custody by the Dunkirk Police 3-11 Patrol shift. He was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief (PL 145.00) and second-degree criminal contempt (PL 215.50.03).

He appeared before Dunkirk City Court under Honorable Judge Kuzdale and was released on an appearance ticket in accordance with New York State bail reform guidelines. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
