(WNY News Now) – PORTVILLE, N.Y. — A 39-year-old Allegany man was taken into custody early Saturday morning following a reported attempted burglary and brief foot pursuit, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 4:30 a.m. on April 4, 2026, to a report of a possible burglary in progress on South Main Street in Portville. Upon arrival, authorities say the suspect, identified as Sean Tucker, attempted to flee the front of the residence on foot.
A short pursuit ensued through nearby backyards before deputies, assisted by K9 Lex, apprehended Tucker without physical force.
Following the investigation, Tucker was charged with Attempted Burglary in the Second Degree and Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the Second Degree.
Tucker, a resident of Allegany, was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail pending further legal proceedings. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
