(WNY News Now)- A 43-year-old Mayville resident was charged with driving while intoxicated after deputies investigated a suspicious situation early Saturday morning in the Town of Chautauqua.

CHAUTAUQUA, N.Y. — A Mayville man is facing driving while intoxicated (DWI) charges following a sheriff’s investigation on Route 430 during the early morning hours of April 11, 2026.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a suspicious situation on Route 430 in the Town of Chautauqua at approximately 3:21 a.m. While investigating, officers identified one of the individuals involved as Thomas M. Zemcik, 43, of Mayville.

Through the course of the investigation, deputies determined that Zemcik had allegedly been operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

Zemcik was transported to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office for processing. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated per se.

Following processing, Zemcik was released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
