(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A 20-year-old Jamestown resident was taken into custody Sunday evening following a reported vehicle complaint that escalated into a menacing investigation on the city’s east side.

According to police, officers from the Second Platoon were dispatched at approximately 6:28 p.m. on April 19, 2026, to the east side of Jamestown for a report involving a vehicle pursuit. Authorities said the suspect, identified as Charles L. Cooper Sr., was allegedly chasing another vehicle with a victim inside.

During the incident, Cooper is accused of pointing a handgun at the victim while operating his vehicle. Officers quickly located Cooper shortly after the report and took him into custody without further incident.

Cooper was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

He has been charged with Menacing in the Second Degree. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
