(WNY News Now) – FALCONER, N.Y. — A Jamestown man was issued an appearance ticket following a shoplifting investigation at a local convenience store in the Town of Ellicott.

A 28-year-old Jamestown resident has been charged with petit larceny after an alleged theft at Crosby’s in Falconer, according to the Town of Ellicott Police Department.

Police say the incident occurred when officers were called to respond to a reported shoplifting at the Crosby’s store located in Falconer. Upon investigation, authorities allege that Michael L. Johnson, 28, of Jamestown, unlawfully took merchandise belonging to the business.

Following the investigation, Johnson was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor under New York State law that typically involves the alleged theft of property valued at $1,000 or less.

Johnson was issued an appearance ticket by responding officers. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to respond to the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
