(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTT, N.Y. — A Jamestown woman is facing a petit larceny charge following a reported shoplifting incident in the Town of Ellicott, according to police.
The Town of Ellicott Police Department reports that officers responded to a shoplifting complaint on April 28, 2026, at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Following an investigation, police allege that Stephanie K. Derby, 45, of Jamestown, passed all points of sale with merchandise that had been concealed without making payment.
Derby was subsequently charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor under New York State law. She was issued an appearance ticket and released.
Authorities said Derby is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer to the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
