(WNY News Now) – A Gowanda man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop in the Town of Hanover led to a driving while intoxicated investigation Thursday night, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies report that at approximately 9:01 p.m. on May 14, 2026, officers conducted a traffic stop on Hanover Road in the Town of Hanover.

The driver was identified as 57-year-old Jonathan V. White of Gowanda.

Following an investigation, deputies determined that White was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated. He was taken into custody and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content of .18% or higher, Consumption of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle, Moved From Lane Unsafely, and Failed to Keep Right.

White was released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges in Hanover Town Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
