(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Jamestown woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop early Thursday morning in the city, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
Police said officers from the department’s Third Platoon conducted a vehicle and traffic stop at approximately 12:14 a.m. on May 22, 2026, near the intersection of West Third Street and North Main Street.
During the investigation, officers determined that the driver, identified as 27-year-old Alesha Matthews of Jamestown, was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Matthews was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. She was charged with driving while intoxicated along with additional vehicle and traffic violations.
After processing, Matthews was released on an appearance ticket. She is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
