(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man was taken into custody Thursday morning after police conducting a street check discovered he was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
The Jamestown Police Department reported that officers from the First Platoon conducted a street check at approximately 11:30 a.m. on May 28, 2026, on North Main Street in Jamestown.
Police identified the individual as 51-year-old Daniel M. Baird of Jamestown. Officers were reportedly aware that Baird had an active warrant issued through the Jamestown Police Department.
According to investigators, Baird was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. During processing, officers allegedly found him in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine.
Baird was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree in addition to the outstanding warrant.
He was held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
