(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTT, N.Y. — A Brocton man was charged with driving while impaired by drugs and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop in the Town of Ellicott, according to the Town of Ellicott Police Department.

Police said Steven J. Seavy, 35, of Brocton, was charged on May 27, 2026, at approximately 2 p.m. after officers conducted a vehicle and traffic stop for multiple alleged traffic violations.

During the investigation, officers alleged that Seavy was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs. Police also reported finding drug paraphernalia and a scale in his possession.

Seavy was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (DWAI-Drugs), Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, and additional vehicle and traffic violations.

Following processing, Seavy was released with uniform traffic tickets and an appearance ticket.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to respond to the charges.

All charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
