(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Jamestown man is facing a petit larceny charge after an alleged shoplifting incident at an Aldi grocery store in the Town of Ellicott.

According to the Town of Ellicott Police Department, officers responded to a reported shoplifting complaint at Aldi on May 28 at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Police allege that Manuel A. Fernandez, 42, of Jamestown, took various items from the store and passed the point of sale without paying for the merchandise.

Following an investigation, Fernandez was charged with one count of petit larceny. He was issued an appearance ticket and released.

Fernandez is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer the charge.

As with all criminal allegations, the charge is an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
